Senior Learning & Development Manager

UL Solutions is seeking a Senior learning and Development Manager to lead the strategy, design, and delivery of global L&D solutions that build critical capabilities and support business transformation. This person will be responsible for driving a scalable, AI enabled learning portfolio and partner with the business to develop impactful, data driven learning experiences.
The role follows a hybrid working model (3 days in the office, 2 from home) and is based in Basingstoke (UK).
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred. Learning/Operational Development/HR/business preferred
- 8–12+ years in L&D, OD, or related field with global program leadership experience
- Proven ability to design and scale AI enabled learning solutions
- Strong stakeholder management in complex, matrixed environments
- Experience linking learning outcomes to business performance through data
- Solid program, vendor, and budget management experience
- Strategic thinking and portfolio management
- AI fluency applied to learning design and delivery
- Strong communication and storytelling skills
- Data-driven decision making and experimentation
- Change management and facilitation
- Ability to operate globally with cultural awareness

This position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 20% of base salary. This role defines and executes the global L&D strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and enabling teams to build skills faster and more effectively. It combines strategic leadership, AI enabled innovation, and strong stakeholder engagement to deliver measurable business impact.
Key Responsibilities:
1 Strategy and portfolio leadership
- Define and deliver a multi year global L&D strategy aligned to business priorities
- Translate business needs into prioritized learning initiatives with clear outcomes
- Establish scalable design standards, reusable content, and global frameworks
- Lead portfolio planning, including roadmap, budget, and value tracking
2 Team leadership
- Manage the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives (AI fluency, data literacy, business acumen, facilitation, performance consulting).
- Create succession plans.
- Build a global community of practice across L&D and HR (templates, office hours, showcases) to spread best practices and reuse.
3 AI Enabled Design, Development & Delivery
- Integrate AI across the learning lifecycle to improve speed, relevance, and personalization
- Develop frameworks, toolkits, and guardrails for safe and consistent AI use in learning
• Enable business teams to co-create learning solutions under L&D guidance
• Partner with IT, Data, and Legal to ensure responsible AI practices
4 Stakeholder engagement and change
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on capability building and performance gaps
- Define success metrics and implementation plans with business stakeholders
- Lead communication and change initiatives to support adoption and impact
5. Measurement and impact
- Track learning effectiveness, behavior change, and business outcomes
- Use data and experimentation to continuously improve programs
- Provide clear reporting to leadership on impact and ROI
6. Program and vendor management
- Lead global programs with clear governance, timelines, and risk management
- Manage external partners and vendors to ensure quality and value delivery
7. Governance and compliance
- Ensure adherence to accessibility, data privacy, and compliance standards
- Maintain documentation and quality control for learning solutions
