Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
At Universal Studios Hollywood, we are committed to developing the best leaders and delivering world-class guest experiences through a culture of continuous learning. The Senior Manager, Talent & Operational Learning will oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of professional, leadership, and operational development programs. This role leads the strategy for professional development pathways, supervisor and lead development, while also owning new hire orientation and operational learning across the park. With a strong balance of strategic design and hands-on delivery, this leader will ensure learning solutions align to business goals, build future leadership capability, and strengthen performance across our frontline and management populations.
Key Responsibilities:
Talent Development
- Lead the strategy, design, and delivery of development programs across professional, supervisor, and lead pathways.
- Oversee signature leadership programs for Leads and Supervisors, ensuring alignment to USH and UDX leadership competencies and business priorities.
- Partner with NBCU Talent Lab and UDX Leadership COE to manage nomination processes, prepare participants, and cascade enterprise-level leadership development programs.
- Curate and facilitate open-enrollment workshops and professional skills learning series.
- Consult with senior leaders and HRBPs to identify capability gaps and create targeted solutions that build capacity, improve team performance, and drive cultural transformation.
Operational Learning & Orientation
- Oversee all operational training strategies for frontline Team Members, ensuring role clarity, technical competence, and guest service excellence.
- Lead the design and facilitation of New Hire Orientation experiences for park Team Members (Week One) and Back-of-House employees (Day One), creating consistent, engaging, and brand-aligned onboarding.
- Partner with divisional leaders to define onboarding and skills training requirements, ensuring training programs reduce ramp-up time and reinforce a strong service culture.
- Support global guest service strategies by aligning local training with enterprise-wide service standards.
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead a team of learning professionals, setting vision, priorities, and development plans to drive high performance and engagement.
- Build strong partnerships with HRBPs, senior leaders, and operating divisions to ensure learning and development strategies directly support business goals.
- Manage budgets, vendors, and external partners to deliver cost-effective, high-quality learning solutions.
- Integrate learning technology (LMS, digital adoption tools) to scale and modernize training delivery, ensuring accessibility for a diverse workforce.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- 8+ years’ experience designing, implementing, and measuring talent and operational learning solutions, with 5+ years in a people leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Desired Characteristics:
- Solid background in both talent/leadership development and operational/technical training.
- Expertise in facilitation, consulting, and leadership coaching across frontline and management audiences.
- Proven ability to translate business challenges into impactful learning solutions and measure outcomes.
- Experience with learning technologies, LMS platforms, and blended learning design.
- Skilled in building and developing high-performing teams.
- Advanced communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Solid consultative leadership style with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
- Curious, innovative, and solutions-oriented with a passion for creating engaging learning experiences.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner across HR, business functions, and enterprise teams.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity while driving accountability and results.
This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
