Centralized Operational Strategy, Manager – Launch Enablement Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a high-performing, AI-fluent team of Operational Start Up and Readiness Engineers (OSUREs), providing coaching, mentoring, actionable feedback, and career development support.
- Day 1 Readiness Execution: Own and drive D1R activities for assigned regions and buildings, from pre-construction planning through operational handover, ensuring all systems, processes, and personnel are in place for successful Day 1 operations.
- DEC–FacOps Interface: Serve as the primary operational management interface between Data Center Engineering & Construction (DEC) and Facility Operations, ensuring clear communication, aligned expectations, and smooth transition of assets and responsibilities.
- Operational Turnover Management: Oversee asset onboarding, commissioning coordination, documentation turnover, and readiness task closure for new data center launches across both leased and owned facilities.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Build and maintain strong working relationships with DEC, ISCE, FacEng, EHS, Security, and field operations teams to resolve D1R blockers and ensure operational continuity.
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve operational readiness and turnover programs, leveraging AI and automation to redesign workflows and drive step-change efficiency improvements.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to operational startup and turnover, escalating issues proactively and developing contingency plans.
- Standards & Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory codes, safety standards, and Meta policies throughout the turnover process.
- Reporting & Accountability: Track and report on readiness task progress, asset onboarding status, and documentation handover metrics, including lessons learned reviews and post-turnover audits.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate clear expectations, operational goals, and status updates to leadership and cross-functional partners, influencing alignment across the organization.
- New Site Establishment Support: Coordinate with ISCE and field teams on critical services, contract establishment, and required facilities components for new site turn-up.
- Hiring & Onboarding: Support hiring, onboarding, and selection of new OSURE team members and SMEs, building team capacity to meet growing portfolio demands.
- Incident Management: Own and manage the Incident Management Plan (IMP) for all of Data Center Operations, ensuring clear protocols, roles, and escalation paths are defined, documented, and exercised for operational incidents across the global portfolio.
- CMCC Globalization: Lead the effort to globalize the Campus Management Command Center (CMCC) program, standardizing monitoring, response, and operational oversight capabilities across all regions to ensure consistent 24/7 situational awareness and incident coordination.
- Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (20-30%).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Operations, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of experience in data center operations, engineering, commissioning, or large-scale infrastructure deployment
- 3+ years of experience managing or leading technical teams
- Experience with asset management systems (EAM/Hexagon), BIM360/ACC, commissioning software, and work management tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs with multiple stakeholders across time zones
- Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly distributed environment
- Experience with operational readiness, commissioning, or turnover processes for critical facilities
- Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or equivalent) in a technical or management field
- 10+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical facility operations/engineering
- 5+ years of experience managing technical teams in data center or critical infrastructure environments
- Strong technical knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical, cooling, and controls systems
- Experience with Meta or hyperscale data center design types (TypeF, TypeG, Type6, Type7/T)
- Experience with Day 1 Readiness or similar operational startup programs at scale
- Familiarity with FMEA, Short Circuit Coordination Studies (SCCS), and HV/MV commissioning processes
- Experience with process automation, digital transformation, or scaling centralized programs
- Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, or similar process improvement/project management certifications
- Proven ability to foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and responsible AI adoption
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
