Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $90,100.00 - $150,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Learning Experience Design Manager is responsible for the design and development of virtual learning resources for Cox Automotive clients. This role will support clients throughout their onboarding and adoption lifecycle of implementing new technology, processes, and capabilities within their organization.

The Learning Experience Design Manager will analyze assigned projects to determine learning objectives and design and develop materials, including videos, eLearning modules, simulations, performance support resources, games, assessments, quizzes, etc. They will also determine how instructor-led training content and activities can be converted and/or complemented via virtual delivery methods. The manager will also be responsible for developing virtual resource templates, building and executing a virtual assessment, certification, and measurement strategy, customizing virtual resources for clients, and managing ongoing content updates.

The Learning Experience Design Manager will have proven advanced proficiency utilizing rapid instructional design tools (including eLearning software and graphic design software) and processes such as applying adult learning theories, writing learning objectives, and developing assessments for multiple levels. This role will also be responsible for adhering to strict brand and design guidelines, as well as obtaining both legal and marketing approvals for materials.

This role will build and maintain strong partnerships with the Client Operations team as well as other departments and levels to develop and provide technologically innovative, engaging, and instructionally sound learning deliverables for the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Client-facing curriculum development and instructional design for product lines, new programs, and/or enterprise-wide initiatives.

  • Manage large-scale training projects from discovery through delivery, including management of project participants, subcontractors (when applicable), and project budgets.

  • Create and maintain a competency and certification framework for each product line for external groups.

  • Manage ongoing updates to client training content.

  • Partner with business leaders to align learning solutions with strategic goals.

  • Utilize tools such as SmartSheet, MS 365, Rally, etc., to track development milestones and projects, and keep stakeholders involved and informed.

  • Provide consultation on instructional design, best practices and emerging technologies.

  • Observe classroom implementation of new training content, and regularly audit trainings, bringing feedback to the team.

  • Utilize course data to identify necessary improvements and areas to reinforce.

  • Analyze client training feedback and transform insights into improvements in the content.

  • Onboard new Instructional Designers to the team.

  • May supervise contracts or other resources.

  • Ensure content follows adult-learning theory and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on current trends in learning technology and application.

  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office 365 applications.

  • Mentor and support junior Instructional Designers and Learning and Development Analysts.

  • Evaluate existing training content against current industry standards and recommend improvements.

  • Ensure learning experiences are accessible and inclusive, meeting current compliance standards and diverse learner needs.

  • Use Learning & Development team metrics to analyze training utilization and impact and communicate results with stakeholders.

  • Maintain a basic-to-intermediate understanding of Cox Automotive products.

  • Facilitate Train-the-Trainer (T3) sessions and provide feedback to facilitators.

  • Function as project manager for assigned instructional design projects.

  • Conduct learning needs analysis/action mapping of learner outcomes.

  • Create a curriculum of courses to train clients on Cox Automotive software technology and platforms.

  • Identify and partner with various Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to collect and/or validate required content to build a learning experience.

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop comprehensive learning paths for the client throughout the lifecycle of the product.

  • Customize materials for specific clients, audiences, and/or internal CAI roles.

Who You Are

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a learning and development role or similar. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years’ experience in a related field.

  • Skilled in operating within Agile development environment.

  • Adept at translating complex business concepts into creative, engaging, and relevant learning experiences.

  • Experienced in analyzing needs and designing learning deliverables for blended, virtual, self-paced, and in-class formats.

  • Recognized for a strong eye for visual appeal and graphic design, especially in learning contexts.

  • Known for advanced communication skills, verbal, written, and presentation.

  • Proficient in project management across multiple learning initiatives.

  • Capable of creating audio and video content, including script writing, storyboarding, microlearning, and in-app guides.

  • Versed in graphic design for learning (documentation, presentations, guides, self-paced modules) and tools like Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and SnagIt.

  • Well-versed in designing and developing learning deliverables using eLearning software such as Storyline 360, Camtasia Studio, and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

  • Comfortable using software like MS 365, Power BI, and Domo to manage projects and collaborate with stakeholders.

  • Familiar with LMS-supported content types, tagging, and basic administrative operations.

  • Effective in written communications and creating impactful presentations using MS 365 and similar tools.

  • Applied knowledge of generative AI functionality and prompt engineering to enhance day-to-day efficiencies.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Psychology, or related field preferred.

  • Experience in Automotive preferred.
