This role drives the delivery of scalable, feasible, and compliant Data & AI products that create measurable business value. As a technical leader within the product operating model, the Senior Director partners across product, engineering, and business teams, and collaborates broadly within the GDATS organization including Enterprise Data, Analytics, and AI teams to ensure technical excellence and alignment with enterprise standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy: Define and govern the strategy for AI products. Lead teams of AI Product Owners and have accountability for deployment of capabilities that add value to the business.

  • AI Best Practices: Champion data quality, observability, performance, and secure/ethical AI practices across the organization.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Architecture, Governance, Engineering, InfoSec, Privacy, Risk & Compliance, and IT Operations to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable AI solutions.

  • Operational Readiness: Establish and maintain operational readiness standards — including SLOs, SLAs, runbooks, incident response, and L3 support — in partnership with Service Management and IT Operations.

  • Business Impact & Adoption: Partner with product, commercial, and business leaders to set adoption goals, valuation metrics, and business impact measures for AI products.

  • Observability & Monitoring: Ensure teams have access to observability platforms that deliver automated, real-time insights into infrastructure health, application performance, and user experience.

  • Innovation & Experimentation: Foster creative, resourceful product development by enabling teams to deliver testable iterations — even when ideal technologies are unavailable — encouraging experimentation, learning, and validation of further investment.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Skillset & Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years in engineering, architecture, or technical leadership roles and related experience with advanced analytics capabilities.

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience considered.

  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, life sciences, financial services) with knowledge of compliance, privacy, and ethical AI frameworks.

  • Experience with tools such as ADO, Jira, Confluence, and other agile project management and collaboration tools is highly desirable.

  • Deep fluency in on-premises and cloud architectures, data platforms, AI technologies, and modern engineering patterns.

  • Strong familiarity with enterprise governance processes—including security reviews, privacy assessments, and model risk controls—and hands-on experience designing both on-prem and cloud-based solutions.

  • Robust understanding of AI SDLC governance, including data sourcing, model development, validation and testing, fairness and bias evaluation, security and privacy review, deployment, monitoring (drift, quality, performance), and deprecation/retirement processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across enterprise functions.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear technical and strategic presentations to executives and cross-functional partners.

  • Experience governing vendor technologies, including contract evaluation, technical due diligence, and ensuring platform interoperability.

  • Strong financial acumen in cloud cost optimization, AI model cost management, and valuation tracking.

  • Deep knowledge of the Product Operating Model, a bias for action, and a passion to build products customers love that work for the business.
